As the Instructor, Level II, you will be responsible for directly supporting the Head Instructor within specific sports or arts area. The Instructor, II will work as part of a team to ensure a safe, productive and enjoyable experience for all campers. This position requires a high level of experience and quality leadership skills.


Specific Accountabilities:

·         Provide support to the Head Instructor in the planning of activities

·         Actively participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day including activities, meal times, games etc.

·         Maintain positive relations with Campers, parents and other staff

·         Follow all camp procedures and policies to include Appleby’s Mutual Respect policy

·         Participate in all required training related to Health & Safety

·         Ensure the safety and supervision of all campers


Knowledge and Skills:

·         Applicants for this position should have a secondary school diploma and have thorough knowledge & previous experience instructing specific area (Sports, Arts or Other Programs)

·         Applicants for this position should have a minimum of 2nd year university/college and/or Post-secondary work experience

·         Experience working/volunteering with children in a camp setting in a leadership role

·         Provide instruction/ run activities confidently in front of groups of campers

·         Excellent communication skills

·         Excellent time management and organizational skills

·         Team oriented, motivational and creative

·         Energetic and enthusiastic

·         Bronze Cross and/or NLS certification in lifeguarding is an asset

·         Coaching certifications experience for Sports Camps is an asset


Workplace Requirements:

·         Successful candidates must attend the required training sessions from May 29-31, 2020

·         As a condition of employment, a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening is required

·         Valid Standard First Aid and CPR – C (certified on, or after Sept. 2018) is required


Appleby College Camps and Academies provide the highest quality of instruction to campers in a fast paced and challenging work environment.  Compensation is dependent on experience and qualifications.
